MUNICH -- Gigabit Europe -- Light Reading's inaugural Gigabit Europe event has already set tongues wagging about the best options for improving broadband connectivity in the region, with UK operators BT Group plc (NYSE: BT; London: BTA) and CityFibre making some big announcements about their trials of G.fast and FTTH technologies. (See BT Gets G.fast Confidence Boost From Trials and UK Needs Fiber Infrastructure Rivalry – CityFibre.)
Of course, this is the show where beer meets broadband, with Oktoberfest in full swing in our host city of Munich, and we did manage to squeeze in an excursion to the Bierkellers amid all the discussions about P2P Ethernet, GPON, NG-PON2 and whatever comes next. (See Gigabit Europe: Day 1 Takeaways.)
We've included a selection of photos from our event and Oktoberfest here, starting with the latter. Click on the image below to start the slideshow.
