LENEXA, Kan. -- As customers continue to increase their need for speed, Consolidated Communications (Nasdaq:CNSL) announced today it is launching a 1 Gigabit Internet speed package. Consolidated Communications (CCI) will offer the 1 Gig service to all Kansas City fiber-to-the-home customers.
"Our customer's expectation for a faster Internet connection to enable activities like home-based businesses, gaming and video streaming continues to grow," said Michael Smith, chief marketing officer for Consolidated Communications. "The number of connected devices in the home is also growing exponentially; computers, phones, tablets, printers, game consoles and even appliances are all competing for bandwidth."
In place since 2007, CCI's existing fiber network has long had the capacity to both support these applications as well as offer 1 Gig speeds. "While the demand is still relatively low for a 1 Gig connection, this launch puts us ahead of the curve and lets our customers know that we have the products, services and bandwidth they need both today and tomorrow," added Smith.
CCI's fiber Internet packages offer symmetrical services from 18 Mbps to 1 Gig. The new 1 Gig package is available for $69.95 per month with no construction or installation fees.
