LONDON -- CableNet International Ltd., the leading provider of supply chain management software and services to the global cable manufacturing industry, announced today that General Cable (NYSE:BGC), the leading provider of wire and cable products for voice, data, video and control applications, has selected CableNet to implement several e-Hub solutions, including Collaborative Planning, Forecasting and Replenishment as well as a General Cable Supplier Managed Inventory (SMI) program. General Cable's supply partners will gain visibility of real time planning, forecast and inventory information, giving them the ability to make their own replenishment calculations, reducing General Cable's intervention and improving the efficiency of production schedules. Connection to CableNet is possible via a single integration, using proprietary translations designed around Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. This single connection will allow General Cable to share information with supply partners in real time. Access to CableNet is also possible via a web browser. "Our goal is to deploy the first phase of Supplier Managed Inventory (SMI) with our supply partners using CableNet by April 2002, with full integration on CableNet's e-Hub and scaled deployments by the end of the third quarter," said Mark Smith, VP Sourcing and Transportation at General Cable. "We believe our supply partners will realize the same value from supply-chain collaboration that has been proven many times through implementations on private corporate hubs with a reduction in inventory carrying costs and the ability to share information. CableNet's offering is unique in the cable space and we are very excited to be working so closely with them." CableNet International Ltd.General Cable Inc.
