STOCKHOLM -- The 10Gbit/s international circuit connects the national research and education network in Poland to the pan-European research network GÉANT, and will enable universities to expand their connectivity to the research network. At the same time it will be the first 10 Gb international circuit ever implemented in Poland.

The 10 Gbit/s international circuit was implemented by TeliaSonera International Carrier late this autumn as an upgraded link. The deal provides powerful and reliable connectivity for Polish universities who will be able to connect to over 3,500 universities and research and educational institutions throughout more than 30 European countries using the pan-European network GÉANT.

"We are very proud to cooperate with DANTE on the GÉANT project", says Eva Lindqvist, President of TeliaSonera International Carrier. "It's the largest and most advanced network of its kind in Europe, currently supplying Internet connectivity to eight million students all over Europe. The latest 10 Gbit/s circuit also reinforces our strong position in Poland where we are the IP connectivity market leaders."

"DANTE chose TeliaSonera to supply this 10 Gbit/s circuit based upon their proven ability to efficiently deliver international connectivity for the GÉANT network. We are very pleased to be working in collaboration with them in order to make this previously unattainable transmission speed a reality for the Polish universities," says Matthew Scott, chief financial officer of DANTE.
