KAWASAKI, Japan -- Fujitsu Optical Components Limited (FOC) announced today that a live demonstration of its next generation 100GE CFP4 ER4 transceiver will take place at OFC 2015 next week in Los Angeles, California, USA. This transceiver is designed to comply with the 100 Gigabit Ethernet ER4 (40km transmission) and next generation CFP4 MSA specifications. The demonstration can be viewed in FOC's booth #900 at the Los Angeles Convention Center on March 24 to 26, 2015.

The recent rapid increase in the volume of communications traffic has led to a spread of 100G optical networks from core networks to data center networks. 100 GE optical networks are spreading as a result of the ever increasing demand for larger capacity, higher port density, and lower cost in the networks that connect the data center to the metro network. CFP transceivers (as defined in the CFP MSA (*1)) and CFP2 transceivers which offer smaller size and lower power consumption in comparison to CFP transceivers are already popular in the market. Next generations CFP4 transceivers which offer smaller size and lower power consumption in comparison to CFP2 transceivers have started to be developed. Samples of CFP4 LR4 transceivers supporting the 100GE LR4 (10km transmission) specifications have now started to ship into the market.
