SHELTON, Conn. -- TranSwitch® Corporation (NASDAQ: TXCC), a leading provider of high-speed semiconductor solutions for voice, data and video communications, today announced that Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe Ltd. has named TranSwitch a strategic partner. Fujitsu will build several of TranSwitch’s semiconductor devices into its GeoStream Access Gateway multi-service access platform (MSAP).

The GeoStream Access Gateway portfolio consists of copper and fibre access equipment using TDM, Ethernet and ATM technologies, which include the FDX MSAN (multi-service access node) for copper plant and the FBX MSAN for fibre access connections. These systems utilize TranSwitch’s EtherPHAST™-48 Plus, the industry’s most versatile, low latency Ethernet/SAN framer/mapper, which is the first of several TranSwitch devices Fujitsu will be deploying. The GeoStream portfolio will also include the FCX fibre MSAN. TranSwitch’s EtherPHAST-48 Plus is among the devices also being built into this highly optimized platform.

“A significant requirement for the fibre access system is support for Ethernet and TDM technologies on a common interface with the ability to flexibly adjust Ethernet capacity using the LCAS (Link Capacity Adjustment Scheme) protocol. The EtherPHAST-48 Plus also utilizes internal switching technologies to facilitate standards-compliant protection schemes. These products will make it easier to increase network interface capacity, in service, without changing customer interface cards,” continued James. “The support of VCAT (Virtual Concatenation) and LCAS plays a vital role in addressing our customers’ requirements by providing the correct size paths and the dynamic management of path size depending on user traffic.”
