Fujitsu Adds Gig-Ether Capability

RICHARDSON, Texas -- Fujitsu Network Communications, Inc. upped the ante in the SONET marketplace with the addition of Gigabit Ethernet (GigE) interfaces on two of its multi-service platforms, FLASH600 ADX and FLASH2400 ADX, expanding its SONET dominance and embedded base of 200,000 SONET network elements. The FLASH ADX family of products allows customers to add new revenue generating data services into their existing SONET services. GigE functionality, available for purchase in 4Q01, joins 10/100 Base-T support to give customers the ability to transport Ethernet on their current networks, along with ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) and traditional SONET technology. The GigE addition will allow virtual private network services, router connectivity and Ethernet transport.

"The addition of Gigabit Ethernet allows Fujitsu to continue offering our customers the best combination of interfaces in order to consistently enhance their network services," said Doug Saylor, senior vice president of marketing of Fujitsu Network Communications. "Since networks are not static, we offer a migration strategy to evolve carrier networks without having to forklift the existing infrastructure while offering the latest services to generate more revenue."
