ATX enhances Maxnet II product offering to include ultra high density optical transmission solutions for HFC, RFoG, RFoG/PON

COLOGNE, Germany -- Following the space savings and efficiency philosophy developed into its MAXNET II product line, ATX Networks (Hall 10, Level 2, booth #H18) has developed further innovations within the platform to provide the industry with optimized solutions for both HFC and RFoG/PON deployments. With respect to HFC deployments, ATX is demonstrating a platform that includes optical transmission and reception, narrowcast combing and return path splitting for up to 50 node segments in one rack. From an RFoG/PON perspective, ATX has fully integrated all the distribution and receiving components required for delivery to 128 ONU/Ts into one module so that a total of 1280 ONU/Ts can be served from a 3RU platform.

ATX's F connector based 1310 nm transmitter and return path receiver offer the same integrated 8-way passives that have set them apart from the competition. An MCX to F conversion patch panel has been added that does not take any more space than the base 3RU chassis, and allows hot-swapping modules without rewiring of any cable. Included are front access fibre ports and test/insertion ports, as well as individual port attenuation to balance all narrowcast content independently. Applications of up to 50 node segments, forward AND return, are possible in one 40RU rack. This includes passive combiner/splitters which alone would have taken up 25RU. Ideal for DOCSIS 3.0 deployments, even with reduced CMTS port output levels due to channel bonding.

ATX's RFoG/PON module integrates a 1550 nm full broadcast transmitter, a high output EDFA, 4-way optical splitter, optical filters for RFoG return path lambdas, optical filters for PON lambdas as well as a quad-pack low noise RFoG receiver with <1.5pA/rtHz sensitivity. Each module services 4 groups of 32 ONUs. Ten such modules will fit into one 3RU chassis, with redundant power supplies, resulting in up to 1280 ONUs served in only 3RU. Other options include an RFoG only module (without PON support) and PON module with 1550 overlay (without RFoG receivers). Ideal for FTTx deployments.
