France Telecom R&D upgrades high-speed Internet infrastructure with Juniper Networks' new T-series product line

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR), a leading provider of trusted infrastructures for the New Public Network, today announced that France Telecom Research and Development (R&D), France Telecom's research center, has selected Juniper Networks new T640 Internet Routing Node to be deployed in the heart of its experimental Vraiment Très Haut Débit/Very High Speed (VTHD) network.VTHD is a very high-bandwidth network, managed by France Telecom R&D, with a critical mission to evaluate, validate and deliver value-added Internet Protocol (IP) services at scale for the France Telecom R&D group. The network is being built to meet the specific requirements of France Telecom R&D and a number of its partners, including research institutions, universities and engineering schools.France Telecom R&D has selected Juniper Networks T640 Internet Routing Node to enable its VTHD network to achieve a high level of performance and to ensure non-stop delivery of advanced services. The now-enhanced VTHD++ network, co-sponsored by the Réseau National de Recherche en Télécommunications-National Network in Telecommunications Research (RNRT), the French government-sponsored research laboratories already connects massive parallel computers between France Telecom R&D's partners at very high bandwidth. The network provides state-of-the-art real-time interactive services such as native Internet Protocol version 6, multiprotocol label switching, virtual private networks and multicast.France Telecom SAJuniper Networks Inc.
