PARIS -- France Telecom has expanded the Paris Internet Exchange (PARIX) with a new dedicated site, providing an additional 500 square meters of colocation space for carriers and ISPs at one of Europe's Top 5 Internet exchange points. The move paves the way for further ease and efficiency in connectivity for customers connected at PARIX, which has seen traffic triple over the last year (September 2001- September 2002).The new point of presence (PoP) at Aubervilliers in the Western greater Paris region will be linked to three existing PARIX sites - France Telecom's data center near the French stock exchange and two carrier-neutral hotels in the 2nd and 11th districts.As manager of PARIX, France Telecom provides the Internet community with a neutral exchange point for peering, and provide with a one-stop-shopping solutions via its Open Transit® range of wholesale services. Turn-key housing services are also available at France Telecom's two in-house sites.France Telecom's new PARIX PoP allows for a larger proportion of the Internet community to connect at France's leading exchange point. The advantage of this "in-house" premises for customers is that they have faster and easier access to not only peering, but also top quality housing and transit services and packaged solutions provided by France Telecom under one roof.France Telecom SA
