OTTAWA -- Nakina Systems Inc. (“Nakina”), a provider of multi-vendor element management and security solutions for the world’s largest telecom and data networking service providers, today announced the addition of Marco Pagani to its Board of Directors. Mr. Pagani, formerly a key executive in the Nortel Networks organization, has served as an Executive Consultant to Nakina over the past few months and will now take on the role of Board member, effective immediately.

“Marco’s personal contacts in the industry and his ability to crystallize a vision have been instrumental to our recent successes,” explained Dave Vicary, co-founder and CEO of the Nakina.” In truth, calling him a Board Member almost seems insufficient, given his ongoing contribution to the implementation of our strategic vision and objectives.”

Mr. Pagani served in an illustrious career at Nortel Networks during his 18-year tenure there. His most recent position was President of Optical Ethernet and Storage Solutions, in which his leadership fueled the division’s rapid growth. Previously he held various senior positions, including President - Metro Optical Division, President - Core Networks, and General Manager - Carrier Data Networks, where his leadership skills drove Nortel to a position of market leadership. As a Board Member of Nakina, Mr. Pagani will continue to play an active role in the company’s strategic operations, leveraging his domain expertise in converged packet networks and his global business network to contribute to the company's success.

“I’m delighted to join Nakina in this official capacity. Nakina is a rising star in the telecom software space. Within 24 months of starting, they’ve managed a series of ongoing sales with one of the top 5 telecom service providers in the U.S.,” explains Pagani. “The company also has ongoing lab or field trials with two more of these top 5 North American service providers, and is in discussions with a fourth regarding possible lab trials in the near future. I haven’t seen many start-ups over the past few years that have been able to attract that level of customer commitment with the big players.”
