Last week I ordered FiOS from Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE: VZ), which told me it was available at my location and was supposed to be installed today. They set up the date and said I should be expecting a confirmation phone call... which never came. I guess I should have taken that cue.
No Verizon trucks this morning. I checked my online account, and it said "order cancelled." There was no explanation. I got on the phone but was put on hold for 30 minutes and never got through to anybody.
My suspicion is they came by some time this week to check the access -- which they said they were going to do -- and discovered it would not work, despite the fact that the computer said it would, so they cancelled the installation. Maybe the fiber wasn't close enough.
I'll update you when I get further information. I was looking forward to my FiOS installation photo essay.
