DALLAS -- The US Patent and Trademarks Office (USPTO) has issued US Patent #7,072,315, entitled "Medium Access Control for Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) Cellular Networks," to ADAPTIX, which is among the earliest developers of OFDMA technology. This latest patent adds to the company's portfolio of OFDMA and related technology intellectual property rights.

Following the initial filing in 2000, US Patent #7,072,315 was issued on July 4, 2006 and describes a method and apparatus for controlling OFDMA-based cellular networks such as Mobile WiMAX networks.

"Our latest patent continues to build on the important base of intellectual property rights that ADAPTIX has built over the past six years," said Michael Pisterzi, ADAPTIX President and CEO. "This patent, in concert with our earlier patents covering physical layer attributes, demonstrates ADAPTIX's leading edge internal technology capabilities with wireless broadband systems for Mobile WiMAX and other OFDMA-based systems. ADAPTIX does not have any dependencies on third-party OFDMA or WiMAX chipset vendors."

ADAPTIX recently announced its newest family of IP-based mobile networking products, including the compact and flexible BX-3000 series of mobile base stations and the SX-300 and SX-500 mobile terminal lines. Both the BX-3000 and SX series of products feature ADAPTIX's powerful third-generation OFDMA engine combined with the company's standards-based IEEE 802.16e-2005 compatible software. All ADAPTIX base stations and terminals are built on a highly programmable software defined radio (SDR) architecture for maximum flexibility and serviceability.

"ADAPTIX is in an excellent position to capitalize on its Mobile WiMAX systems expertise and strengthen its position in the marketplace," said J. Gerry Purdy, Ph.D., VP & Chief Analyst, Mobile & Wireless at Frost & Sullivan. "Unlike many suppliers in the market who are developing Mobile WiMAX and other OFDMA systems, ADAPTIX develops and owns its base technology, which will make it attractive to customers by providing a total end-to-end solution."
