Facebook Dominates

  • Facebook dominated all social networking sites in April, in terms of the amount of time users spent on the site, with 13.87 billion minutes. However, Nielsen also revealed that MySpace is still No. 1 in video delivery and Twitter blew away all other sites in year-over-year growth, with a 3,712 percent gain over the same period last year.

  • The Rubicon Project's new report warns that publishers and ad networks need to rethink how they approach secondary ad inventory, suggesting that they are missing out on billions of dollars in potential ad revenues because of poor inventory management.

  • Contentinople publisher Scott Raynovich examines the situation that media companies are facing, as they lose control of technology while the Apples and Amazons of the world lead the digital revolution. They can regain control, he says, but they'll have to acknowledge changes in consumer behavior first.

  • Critical Media has a new content partnership with Local TV LLC, by which it will make news clips and other local content from Local TV's 19 television stations available to users of Critical Media's ClipSyndicate platform.
