HYANNIS, Mass. -- Excel Switching Corporation, the leading provider of carrier-class, open services platforms for communications networks, today announced that IVSTEL and Phitech Corporation have both joined Excel's global application partner program. IVSTEL is a global provider of prepaid and postpaid calling applications, and Phitech is the leading provider of IVR (interactive voice response) messaging and conferencing services in Asia. These partnerships enable services providers throughout Asia to rapidly deploy high performance, proven, revenue generating wireline and wireless services.

With customers throughout Asia, Europe and Australia, IVSTEL provides software products and professional services that allow telecommunications carriers to bring new solutions to market, such as prepaid and postpaid calling, voice response and recognition, and real-time routing and rating of telephone calls. By building and deploying these services on Excel's Converged Services Platform (CSP), IVSTEL can significantly speed development time to market for its customers.

P>"The Excel CSP with its scalable non-blocking architecture and integrated VoIP and SS7 make it superior to switches IVSTEL has used in the past. We are excited about the new Excel streaming DSP2 board and support for IN protocols because when combined with IVSTEL's ability to rapidly develop and localize applications it gives us a distinct competitive advantage in the Asia Pacific market," said Ian Barnes, managing director of IVSTEL. "With demand growing for IVSTEL applications such as pre-and-postpaid calling, the combination of IVSTEL multi node Nova software and Excel scalable CSP hardware allow our carrier customers virtually unlimited growth."

Phitech, with service provider customers that include Taiwan Cellular Corporation (TCC), Asia Pacific Broadband Wireless Communications Inc. (APBW) and Industrial Technology Research Institute of Taiwan (ITRI), provides best-in-class telephony applications that include Voice Messaging with IVR, conferencing, Color Ring Back Tone, SMS, and tandem. Together with Excel, Phitech will offer these revenue-generating services on the CSP.

"Because we can develop an application once and deploy it across an IP, TDM, or wireless network using the Excel CSP, our carrier customers have a solution that is future-proofed, while at the same time bridges the gap with legacy networks," said Lune Ching Hu, Chief Executive Officer at Phitech Corporation. "New services such as SMS and Color Ring Back Tone are in high demand throughout Asia, and the Excel CSP enables those applications at a lesser cost to our customers."

"We continue to see significant traction for our platform in Asia. The addition of IVSTEL and Phitech to our partner program shows our commitment to giving service providers a solution that scales to meet their needs, whether they are for wireline or wireless applications," stated JC Murphy, president of Excel Switching Corporation. "Both partners have a large, dedicated customer base in Asia and we look forward to long and prosperous relationships in that region."
