ATLANTA –– Cirrex Corporation, a developer of integrated opto-electronic subsystems, has named Dr. Albert D. Bender, a former vice president of Nortel Networks, as its Chief Executive Officer. Bender will be responsible for enhancing and solidifying Cirrex’s role in enabling DWDM in the metro/access market through low cost integrated optical hybrid subsystems. “Al Bender brings to Cirrex a track record in building profitable, high technology companies plus a wealth of management experience in the telecommunications industry,” stated Mike Wach, Cirrex Founder and Chief Technology Officer. “His leadership, marketing, and technology expertise are the perfect combination of skills to lead the rapid growth phase of the Cirrex technology intensive product family.” Most recently, Bender was at Nortel Networks, where he was vice president and general manager, Internet Telephony. He launched the Nortel soft switch, IP media gateways, IP SS-7 gateway and IP feature server. Prior to that he founded his second startup, NetEdge Systems, a manufacturer of ATM multi-service edge routers that enabled carriers to provide high-speed Internet access with QOS. His first startup, FiberCom Systems, developed fiber optic based data and networking systems for enterprise applications. Earlier in his career, Bender was Director, Fiber-Optic Systems at ITT Electro Optical Products Division, an early fiber optic pioneer, and started his career as a member of the Technical Staff at Bell Laboratories.Cirrex Corp.
