Ex-Juniper Exec Now Running Brocade

Lloyd Carney, a former Juniper Networks Inc. executive who led startup Xsigo into its eventual acquisition, has been named CEO of Brocade Communications Systems Inc., effective immediately. The news was announced Monday afternoon. Brocade's former CEO, Mike Klayko, had announced his pending retirement in August. The reasons weren't made clear, but it probably has less to do with Brocade's performance and more to do with unsuccessful efforts to sell the company. Carney's last job was as CEO of Xsigo, which got acquired by Oracle last fall. The deal amusingly turned Xsigo, which sells virtual I/O platforms, into a "software-defined networking" (SDN) company, according to Oracle's headline writers.
