PARIS -- Everbee Networks, a trend setting provider of integrated all-in-one network security software delivered on a versatile, plug-and-play silicon platform, today announced the signature of an agreement with STMicroelectronics (NYSE:STM), the world's leading supplier of xDSL chipsets to jointly develop next-generation secure single chip ADSL and ADSL2+ gateways for the residential and SOHO markets. The resulting product is an integrated, high speed ADSL2+ gateway system-on-chip (SOC) that will support such security features as:

  • Stateful and application level firewalls (ICSA certified)

  • Real-time encryption

  • ICSA Labs® certified for IPSec VPN

  • Parental control

  • Access control and content filtering

  • Integrated intrusion detection and prevention

  • Email virus bouncer and email ciphering

The development project consists of integrating Everbee Networks’ hardware IP into the next generation ADSL2+ chipset by ST, and integrating Everbee’s relevant embedded software into ST’s turnkey software solution, enabling a system-on-chip implementation for true “security at the gate”. The solution features a comprehensive security protection package that runs at wire line speed with the help of a dedicated hardware. This hardware processing leaves the network processor available for applications like voice-over-IP (VoIP) and video.

“We are working closely with Everbee Networks to ensure a high level of integration between their IP hardware blocks and xNSP software, and our ADSL gateway chipset," said Christian Olivier, General Manager of the access division within ST’s Telecom group. "Among other suppliers, we chose Everbee Networks for their uniquely balanced hardware and software solution, and complementary knowledge of networking and security."

"By offering an integrated software and hardware security solution, ST is able to provide its customers with additional flexibility in product development," said Pierre Garnier, chairman and chief executive officer, Everbee Networks. " With this agreement we are planning to cooperate on significant joint integration efforts and plan for joint roadmap development that will lead to a truly unique line of secure DSL products.”
