FCC Hits Nashville

8:45 AM -- Convergence, it is said, means a lot of different things to a lot of different people.

Well, howzabout the convergence of Country Music and Federal Communications Commission (FCC) chairman Kevin Martin? Bet you hadn't thought of that one.

But take a trip to Nashville on December 11 and you'll find C&W stars George Jones, Naomi Judd, and Dobie Gray testifying at an FCC hearing about the impact of media consolidation on musicians.

"All five FCC Commissioners are expected to attend the hearing, which will feature an 'open microphone' session for the public to offer testimony on a first-come, first-served basis," according to a press release from an organization called Free Press.

Country stars? An open mike session? Will the "public" get a look-in on the PA system? Does Kevin Martin knows the words to "Coward of the County"? So many questions that need answering...
