Carrier Health Check

3:10 PM -- We're right in the thick of the financial reporting season, and carriers and vendors are talking up their latest numbers. But how well are they actually doing?

Well, we've decided it's time to track how the service providers are doing on a quarter-by-quarter basis. As some of the world's biggest operators provide their latest revenues, profits, and subscriber numbers, we're going to assess their progress and award them a grade, from A (excellent effort) to F (stinker).

You know... "Progressing well with customer acquisitions, but could do better with its North American ARPU. And we don't like the cut of the CEO's jib. It's a B- for you, Carrier X."

Look out for our first wireless carrier scorecards soon, following today's earnings reports from Deutsche Telekom AG (NYSE: DT), parent of mobile giant T-Mobile International AG , and Telefónica SA (NYSE: TEF), home to Telefónica Móviles SA (See DT Plans M&A, IPTV Push and Telefónica Reports 2006.)
