Borat: The Great Debate

10:00 AM -- For years now a debate has raged in the art world about whether Modern Art, such as an unmade bed or a video of a tree growing, is really Art.

Now the debate has moved on to humor. Here's the big question: Is Borat funny?

I refer, of course, to the film/movie: Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan. This film has pretty much destroyed British/Kazakh relations, and prompted an almost immediate response from the Kazakh ambassador to London, further fueling the movie's publicity machine.

See the ambassador's letter that was published in The Guardian by clicking this link.

If you haven't heard about this new item of global cultural significance, check out the trailer.

I haven't seen the film yet -- it opens in the U.K. later this week. I have seen the trailer and various clips, and I laughed so much I was nearly sick. But that's just me. — Ray Le Maistre, International Cultural Relations Editor, Light Reading
