Euronews: ZTE Teams With Russian Giant

Sistema JSFC (London: SSA), ZTE Corp. (Shenzhen: 000063; Hong Kong: 0763) and Vodafone UK are just some of the names in today's Euro mix

  • Russian group Sistema has signed a cooperation agreement with Chinese vendor ZTE, which is likely to lead to new production sites in Russia and China. The move follows extensive collaboration between the two companies during the past couple of years. Sistema has mobile and fixed-line operations in Russia -- Mobile TeleSystems OJSC (MTS) (NYSE: MBT), Comstar United Telesystems JSC (London: CMST), Moscow City Telephone Network (MGTS) -- and a growing mobile operation in India, Sistema Shyam TeleServices Ltd.   • The big three in the U.K. mobile market, namely Vodafone, Telefónica UK Ltd. and EE , have announced plans to create a "mobile money" joint venture, which they hope will eoncourage the wide adoption of payment-by-mobile, and make it easier for advertisers to reach those doing the paying. Rival operator Three UK , however, seems to have been left out in the cold...   • Cable & Wireless Worldwide plc (London: CW) is in talks to buy cloud services firm and Telefónica UK partner 2.00E+02 , according to City A.M.. It is thought the deal could be worth around £400 million ($645 million). (See O2 Unify Opens for Business and O2 Forms Services JV With 2e2.)
