Euronews: Nokia Fakes Lumia 920 Ad

Nokia Corp. (NYSE: NOK) and Liberty Global Inc. (Nasdaq: LBTY) are on the blocks for today's run through the EMEA headlines.
Oops! As if Nokia didn't have enough on its plate, it has now immersed itself in hot water once again by "faking it" in an ad for its new Lumia 920, reports the BBC. The ad, shown at the launch of the new handset, attempted to show off the 920's new optical image stabilization (OIS) feature with some footage of a girl on a bicycle, but a reflection in a window behind the cycling girl showed a cameraman apparently not wielding a Lumia 920 but a hulking great camera rig instead. The naughtiness was spotted by The Verge tech site. Nokia has apologized, sort of, for the stunt. In other Lumia news, Nokia has cut the price of its mid-range Lumia 800 Windows Phone by around 15 percent this week, according to Reuters, and shrunk the price tag of other Windows models too by a lesser amount.
The Dutch spectrum agency has announced that its next auction -- offering frequencies in the 800, 900, 1800, 1900, 2100 and 2600 MHz bands -- will begin on Oct. 31. According to a report on Telecompaper (subscription required), there are five qualified bidders, though they have not yet been named.
U.S. cable giant Liberty Global has launched Horizon TV, a multi-screen pay-TV offering, in Europe. Initially available via its Dutch unit, UPC Netherlands, the service will be rolled out in Switzerland, Germany and Ireland over the coming months. Horizon TV uses a Samsung Corp. multimedia gateway, while NDS Ltd. supplied the middleware and user interface.
