3G Infrastructure Services AB , which provides the 3G network shared by Telenor Group (Nasdaq: TELN) and 3 Group subsidiary Hi3G Access AB in Sweden, has chosen Nokia Siemens Networks to modernize the high-traffic areas of the network with its Flexi Multiradio Base Stations and expand the capacity of most of the rest of the network. Boffins at Germany's Karlsruhe Institute of Technology are claiming a new data-transfer speed record using a single laser over fiber, reports the BBC. Thanks to our old friend the "fast Fourier transform," the bar has apparently been set at a mighty 26 Tbit/s. Whoosh!
