You Say iPhone, I Say...?
Turns out that the networking giant has held a trademark on the "iPhone" moniker for, like, almost a decade, and today it said it's launching a series of VOIP devices under that model name, including the "iPhone Dual-Mode Internet Telephony Kit for Skype CIT400," for a mere $180.
Actually, iPhones have been around since at least 1997, when Infogear -- acquired by Cisco in 2006 -- displayed a Web appliance of that name at CES.
So, what's now left for Steve Jobs if he does indeed introduce an iPhone -- excuse me, an Apple-branded mobile phone with music-storage and playback capabilities like an iPod -- at the MacWorld Exponext month in San Francisco? ApplePhone… MacPhone… PowerPhone… iFone…
Hmm, it's just not working for me.
