STOCKHOLM -- Hotsip AB (www.hotsip.com), a global leader in multimedia applications for SIP infrastructure, and wx3, a Swedish operator, announced today that Hotsip's server and client products are deployed and commercially launched by wx3. Hotsip has provided its Hotsip® SIP Application Server, Hotsip® Presence Engine and Hotsip® Active Contacts PC to wx3. These SIP-based products, together with SNOM products, provide the basic infrastructure for wx3’s telephony and multimedia service offerings.

For an annual subscription from 299 SEK/year incl. VAT, the users can make free call to other wx3 customers and other SIP users. In addition, traffic and monthly charges of 25 SEK per month apply for calls to the PSTN.

The end user will either use the Hotsip PC software Active Contacts or a router with telephony ports for traditional handsets. Using the PC software client the subscriber can benefit from video-telephony, instant messaging and presence information by having a displayed list of contacts showing who is available for communication.

“We are very pleased to see this market launch by wx3. It shows that the standards for these kinds of services have matured enough to allow commercial operations comprising several vendors’ products. I think we will see more and more Service Providers launching not only IP-telephony but also value added services such as video telephony, presence and instant messaging”, says Hotsip CEO Kenneth Gustafsson.

“Hotsip’s broadband telephony solution has added a logical and very valuable service into our offering and our subscribers will get more value out of their broadband connections. They will not only benefit from complementary telephony but also be able to use new features that connect the broadband world with fixed and mobile telephony, states Hans-Christer Bergschöld, Director, wx3. “Since Hotsip is the leading provider of products for complete IP-based multimedia communication solutions, they have been the natural choice for providing this system to us.”
