NEW YORK and AURORA, Ill. -- Verizon has unveiled a working model of Verizon OneTM, which fully integrates voice, video and data services into a single communications command center for the home. The company plans to offer Verizon One to its consumer broadband customers during the first half of 2005 and has awarded a multi-year contract to Westell Technologies to manufacture the innovative new device. Verizon One integrates several technologies -- including a DSL modem, 802.11g wireless router, 5.8 Ghz cordless telephone and color touch screen -- on a single desktop appliance that allows users to seamlessly manage all of their communications needs and devices. It simplifies DSL installation and home network setup, clears away the clutter of multiple devices and is configured for Verizon's iobi Homesm service that brings together telephone and online communications into one user interface.

Verizon One's extensive roster of features will include one-touch dialing, visual voice mail, on-screen memo pad, e-mail previews, scheduled call-forwarding, real-time call management, personal calendar and address book and easily accessed updates on weather, news, sports and entertainment highlights. "Verizon One is yet another demonstration of Verizon's broadband communications leadership," said Shaygan Kheradpir, CIO of Verizon. "It allows our customers to tap the intelligence of our network in ways never before thought possible. With one streamlined device, they can effortlessly integrate all their communications needs and become more efficient and productive by having complete control over when, how and where they communicate. We're excited about moving forward into production with Westell and soon putting this powerful tool into our customers' hands."

Van Cullens, president and CEO of Westell, said, "Our new contract with Verizon demonstrates Westell's expertise in working alongside our customers and partners to develop advanced, customized products for the growing broadband marketplace. As an established broadband access supplier to Verizon, Westell welcomes the opportunity to develop an entirely new product to address Verizon's strategic vision for the consumer marketplace. Verizon One is a truly innovative solution that demonstrates the broad and versatile capabilities of Westell Technologies."
