Sonus Cuts Again
Sonus says it will cut its workforce by "approximately 93 people," or about 10 percent of its headcount worldwide. (See Sonus Keeps Restructuring.)
The VoIP equipment maker says the layoffs will cause it to incur restructuring charges of about $1.4 million to $1.9 million on a pre-tax basis in the third quarter of fiscal 2009. The company expects to save $9.4 million to $10.3 million as a result of this round of cuts.
This is the latest -- and Sonus says the final -- phase of restructuring the company has endured. Combined, all these staff cuts will save $19.7 million to $21.6 million annually, the company says. (See Sonus Cuts 6%, Sonus Cuts 40 More, and Sonus Restructures.)
Sonus says its restructuring will be completed in the third quarter.
