REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. -- Oracle (Nasdaq: ORCL - News) today announced the general availability of the Oracle® Virtual PBX, a key element of the Oracle Service Delivery Platform (Oracle SDP). The Oracle SDP extends Oracle's leadership in Oracle Fusion Middleware for network-centric services by providing a standards-based platform to develop carrier-grade services. The Oracle SDP will provide a suite of out-of-the-box, revenue-generating services that can be easily deployed by operators and service providers. Through support for standards such as SIP, SIP Servlets, and Parlay/Parlay X, the Oracle SDP enables the development of network-centric services and the portability of those services across today's networks as well as next-generation IMS-enabled and VoIP networks.

Among the first out-of-the-box services of the Oracle SDP, the Oracle Virtual PBX is delivered as an operator-hosted PBX service. It addresses the communication needs of small, medium and large enterprises. Features include Queues and Attendant functionality, which enable effective and efficient handling of incoming calls without the need for complex changes to the underlying network topology or architecture within an enterprise. Hunting Groups and Auto attendants features, combined with the ability to make specific feature packages available to individual enterprise customers, provide network operators with a powerful tool to deliver innovative new communication services to their enterprise customers. The implementation of the Oracle Virtual PBX, using standard J2EE and Web technologies, simplifies administration, configuration and management, thereby helping to lower the total cost of enterprise communications.
