Italtel Touts Lead

PARIS -- Italtel, leader in the development and integration of products and services for next generation networks over IP, announces its continued leadership position in terms of revenues in the EMEA area (Europe, Middle East, Africa) in the Softswitch and Next Generation Networks and Services segments for the first half of 2006. The announcement coincides with participation in the European edition of the Broadband World Forum 2006, the annual event dedicated to Broadband technologies, held in Paris from 9 to 12 October.

The data are the result of market research presented by the American firm Yankee Group, according to which during the first half of 2006 Italtel maintained its leadership position in terms of sales revenues in the European rankings for the Softswitch segment, with a market share of 21%, and in Next Generation Networks, with a market share of 15%. Yankee Group also ranks Italtel in first place for sales revenues, with a 30% market share, in the emerging segment of Next Generation Services, considered to be a sharply expanding market, with 23% growth compared to 2005 in EMEA.

"Through the first half of 2006, Italtel has continued to build on its market share lead in the next generation network infrastructure and services within Europe and Italy," said Brian Partridge, senior analyst covering next generation infrastructure at Yankee Group. "Italtel has outperformed several larger, brand name competitors in establishing itself as a market leader within the region."
