6:00 AM -- Former Cisco Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: CSCO) star Charles Giancarlo has become the interim CEO of enterprise voice systems vendor Avaya Inc. .

Giancarlo left Cisco at the end of 2007 to join private equity firm Silver Lake Partners , which, along with TPG Inc. , acquired Avaya for $8.3 billion in October last year. (See Giancarlo Quits Cisco, Paddles to Silver Lake.)

Now he's taken over as Avaya CEO on a temporary basis after the sudden resignation of Lou D'Ambrosio for health reasons.
