Genband Goes IP

PLANO, Texas -- GENBAND Inc., a market-leading developer of IP infrastructure solutions, today unveiled three major product platform announcements at CTIA Wireless® 2009 that will fuel mobile operator IP deployment. GENBAND will showcase these solutions at booth 6906 in the Las Vegas Convention Center from April 1 – 3, 2009.

Uniquely enabling session border control, security and deep packet inspection in an efficient design that provides unmatched scale and flexibility, GENBAND has introduced the S9™ IP gateway.

The 14-slot S9 Multimedia IP platform complements the company’s existing two-slot, ATCA-based S2™ Gateway and delivers energy and space efficiency. Both the S2 and S9 build on GENBAND’s extensive experience in providing carrier grade IP infrastructure gateway technology with over 50 million gateway ports deployed worldwide.

GENBAND also announced new mobile-centric features for its market-share leading G9 Converged Gateway that help drive migration to all-IP next generation networks such as LTE. With the addition of CDMA capabilities as well as satellite interconnectivity, GENBAND’s G9 gateway now enables cost-effective IP-transcoding applications for all major network types. The G9 also adds support for enterprise femtocell functionality, allowing seamless mobility within small and medium enterprises.

Lastly, GENBAND released a suite of enhancements to its S3™ Session Border Controller. Enhancements include the most advanced, highest performance, fully compliant IPX-proxy offering on the market, providing a comprehensive solution that delivers high performance routing for multimedia as well as emerging mobile applications.

The S3 has also received SIPconnect Compliant certification from the SIP Forum. SIPconnect certification validates that the S3 provides reliable direct IP peering between SIP IP PBXs and operator VoIP networks, overcoming vendor incompatibilities.
