Cantata Technology announced the appointment of Paul F. Brauneis to the position of executive vice president

NEEDHAM, Mass. -- Cantata Technology, the world's leading independent provider of enabling communications technology, announced today the appointment of Paul F. Brauneis to the position of executive vice president -- finance and administration, chief financial officer, and treasurer. Effective immediately, Mr. Brauneis will lead all of Cantata's finance, administration, legal and IT operations as it expands its worldwide presence in carrier and enterprise markets.

Cantata Technology was established in 2006 through the combination of Excel Switching Corporation and Brooktrout Technology. Bruce Albelda, former CFO of Cantata, will assume a new senior executive role addressing the Company's strategic needs and growth opportunities.

Mr. Brauneis joins Cantata with a two-decade record of achievement and broad-based financial experience in the telecommunications, software, Internet services and IT services industries. Prior to joining Cantata, Mr. Brauneis served as senior vice president finance and administration and chief financial officer for Avici Systems (NASDAQ: AVCI), a leading provider of purpose-built carrier-class routing solutions for the Internet.

Mr. Brauneis has previously held the CFO position at Spinnaker Software and VP-level finance positions at Wang Global, BBN Corporation, and M/A-Com, Inc. Brauneis began his career at PriceWaterhouse, where he spent more than a decade in senior-level auditing positions.
