BT Renews Nortel Deal

11:30 AM -- With bankruptcy protection proceedings hitting Nortel Networks Ltd. 's sales and business prospects, and with some industry watchers expecting a near-term meltdown, there's evidence today that the Canadian vendor is not being abandoned across the board. BT Group plc (NYSE: BT; London: BTA) has signed a new, four-year deal with Nortel that will see its Global Services division -- also currently in the news for the wrong reasons -- resell, at favorable terms, the vendor's enterprise communications technology to corporate customers. The deal is a renewal of an existing relationship: The two companies have been working together to provide corporates with technology and services for a number of years. (See BT, Nortel Win Big Contract and BT Picks Siemens, Nortel for Voice.)
