PLANO, Texas -- Netrake announced today that Alcatel has selected Netrake to provide its nCite Security Gateway(TM) products and technology for Alcatel's UMA-based wireless LAN customers. Netrake's Security Gateway solution works seamlessly with Alcatel's industry-leading Mobile NGN solution based on the Alcatel 5020 Spatial Atrium multi-standard mobile call server/softswitch.

This offering gives Unlicensed Mobile Access (UMA) providers a powerful solution set by providing secure access to GSM and GPRS mobile services over Bluetooth® and Wi-Fi (802.11) unlicensed spectrum technologies. By deploying UMA technology, service providers can enable their subscribers to roam and handover calls between cellular networks and public and private unlicensed wireless networks using dual-mode GSM/GPRS and UMA-enabled handsets or PDAs. The nCite Security Gateway(TM) provides the security associations for both signaling and media using IPSec encryption and provides the ability to establish hundreds of thousands of security associations without adding network latency. Netrake is leveraging the performance, security and scalability leadership established in wireline networks to provide wireless carriers with the ability to secure their wireless LAN networks. In addition, Netrake has developed a key inter-working interface between the platforms that enables each UNC to support multiple nCite Security Gateways while still maintaining the ability to provide individual subscriber session security and control. An enhanced suite of critical security features such as dynamic session security, IMSI filtering, and blacklisting have also been implemented that further leverages Netrake's security expertise.

"Netrake is pleased to be working with Alcatel to deploy a proven solution for the global UMA wireless LAN market and ultimately support for seamless mobility. This solution represents a major step forward in delivering IP-based services to mobile subscribers and sets the standard in performance, security and functionality," said Bruce Hill, CEO of Netrake.
