Vodafone Tests LTE With Huawei

Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. has landed another LTE (Long Term Evolution) scalp, this time landing a test gig with Vodafone Germany over the so-called "Digital Dividend Band" (790-862MHz).

The two parties are creating a "joint initiative to validate LTE’s application" within that particular band of spectrum, with a particular emphasis on testing digital TV and digital radio services, Huawei tells Unstrung.

The Vodafone Group plc (NYSE: VOD) is among a small group of major operators accelerating their LTE plans with a view to launching commercial services within the next few years. (See China Mobile, V'Fone Test LTE.)

Huawei is already working with Telenor Group (Nasdaq: TELN) and Telia Company on their LTE plans in Europe, and is pushing hard elsewhere with its LTE developments.
