RICHARDSON, Texas -- VocalData Inc., a leading application developer of hosted IP telephony solutions, and ConvediaR Corporation, the leading provider of carrier-class media processing platforms, have announced the successful completion of interoperability testing between VocalData's application server and Convedia's IP media servers. The certified interoperability of these products facilitates scalable deployment of Hosted PBX and IP Centrex applications, while reducing total cost of ownership for service provider customers.

VocalData's flagship product is a feature-rich, standards-based voice application server that enables service providers to supply business and residential users with IP Centrex, hosted PBX, VoIP VPN, and enhanced services such as conferencing and unified messaging. By tapping into the hosted PBX capabilities delivered by a service provider using the VocalData platform, businesses can avoid the up-front expense of a PBX and realize a 25% reduction in their communications costs.

Convedia's media servers are purpose-built to support carrier-class media processing for enhanced services and applications. VocalData's application server, using an open standards-based SIP interface, can now seamlessly control Convedia's media processing features-including IVR, advanced audio bridging, media transcoding, and audio play/record. The resulting integrated solution offers Hosted PBX and IP Centrex service providers an industry-leading call control and feature set, with the media processing reliability and scalability essential for large service deployments.

"The IP Centrex market is quickly moving from the pilot phase into full-service deployments, and it is essential to ensure that all aspects of VocalData's offering scale to meet our customers needs," said Mark Whittier, vice president, VocalData. "We evaluated all leading media server platforms over the past year in our search for leading solutions and partners. VocalData considers Convedia a market leader not only because of their excellent technology and rock solid reliability but also for their superb technical support. Our interoperability with Convedia's media servers ensures that our service provider customers can reliably scale all aspects of their IP Centrex deployments."

"Convedia has become the clear IP media server choice for discerning application developers and service providers," said Grant Henderson, EVP of Marketing and Strategy, Convedia. "We are very pleased that VocalData has certified our media servers for deployment with their industry-leading and feature rich IP Centrex solution offerings. Our product interoperability ensures a fully integrated enhanced voice services platform for large IP Centrex deployments".
