MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- VeriSign Inc. (Nasdaq: VRSN), a leading provider of critical infrastructure services for Internet and telecommunications networks, and Aladdin Knowledge Systems (Nasdaq: ALDN) today announced they have been selected by KPN, The Netherlands' largest telecommunications carrier, to provide managed security services that will enable tele-workers to perform business functions anywhere, with the highest level of security available. VeriSign and Aladdin will be delivering KPN an integrated solution that combines VeriSign's Managed PKI (MPKI) services with Aladdin's eToken authentication offering.

As a cornerstone of VeriSign's Intelligence and Control(SM) Services for Strong Authentication, MPKI enables enterprises to secure their applications and network infrastructure with authenticated, private, and non-repudiated communication and transactions. Aladdin's eToken is a fully portable USB authentication device the size of an average house key, which offers a cost-effective method for user authentication when accessing a network, and for securing electronic business applications.

Together, these services allow KPN to offer their customers a managed authentication solution that offloads administrative tasks, such as the generation, issuance, validation, renewal, and revocation of digital certificates, while implementing a trusted identification solution, thus enabling only authorized users to gain access to their enterprise networks and the sensitive data they contain.

"After considering a number of other vendors, KPN selected the joint VeriSign/Aladdin solution because it offers the most complete security available," said Peter Moll, product manager at KPN. "By choosing VeriSign/Aladdin, we get the best security and usability, at a fraction of the price of other solutions. This will allow us to market our managed authentication solution to KPN customers with the confidence that their mission-critical data is secured and safe from unauthorized access or other malicious activity."

"VeriSign is pleased that our relationship with Aladdin is showing continuing momentum as evidenced by our joint relationship with KPN," said Mark Griffiths, vice president, VeriSign Security Services. "Together with Aladdin, VeriSign gains a key international customer who can use intelligence and control to offer Dutch enterprises secure tele-working solutions that allow them to concentrate on their business objectives, and not worry about the integrity of their data."

"Aladdin's partnership with VeriSign is a testament to the reliability and strength of eToken," said Avishai Ziv, vice president of business development at Aladdin Knowledge Systems. "KPN's use of VeriSign's Managed PKI and Aladdin's eToken illustrates the ease at which large-scale deployments of hardware-based digital credential solutions can be deployed. Both technologies work in tandem to provide organizations with unmatched security while tele-working."
