Turkcell Doubles Up for 3G
Ericsson issued a press release earlier this week, but Huawei is yet to detail its involvement. (See Ericsson Wins Turkcell Deal.)
Turkcell, which ended 2008 with 37 million customers, won its 3G license in November 2008, for which it will pay €358 million (US$462 million). Including the cost of that license, Turkcell plans to spend $1.3 billion on its 2G and 3G operations in Turkey this year, the carrier noted recently in its full year financial report.
