TOKYO -- KDDI Corporation (TSE: 9433) is pleased to announce that Toyota Motor Corporation (TSE: 7203) has awarded a data networking mandate, connecting all major Toyota operations bases across Europe, to KDDI. Toyota will employ KDDI's international IP-VPN service to upgrade and integrate its entire network. KDDI's international IP-VPN has access points in 50 countries all over the world, and in Europe, provides services in the UK, Italy, the Netherlands, Germany, France and Belgium.

Toyota' European network operation supports Toyota's production and sales activities across Europe including Eastern Europe. Currently, there are separate frame relay networks for production related divisions and sales related divisions. Management and operation of the new network will be centralized for more efficient operation and reduction of network operation cost. It will also respond more efficiently and economically to bringing new bases online, and to increases in network capacity due to increases in sales and production related data traffic.

KDDI will implement redundancy throughout the network, and in all network devices such as routers, for safe and secure network operation. The actual lines providing connectivity between Japan and Europe are also redundant, making the network highly reliable.

KDDI will work with Infonet Service Corporation, California, US, who will bring superior IP technology and experience in running and maintaining networks to the construction and operation of the Toyota European network.
