EVERETT, Wash. -- Fluke Networks today expanded its multi-award-winning OptiView suite of network testing and analysis products with the introduction of the OptiView WAN Analyzer. Completely self-configuring and with no complex software installation, the OptiView WAN analyzer gathers actionable data from the minute it's put into place. It is the industry's first OC3/OC12 WAN analyzer to capture packets on all discovered virtual circuits simultaneously, maximizing user productivity to hasten problem identification and resolution. Using the WAN Analyzer, IT network engineers can now identify all network elements that utilize OC3 or OC12 WAN links, perform full RMON2-based remote monitoring, gather detailed traffic statistics, and filter and capture cells and packets on network links at line rate in record time. "The OptiView WAN analyzer is unique in combining extensive visibility for network nodes, deep analysis, and real-time views on OC3 links," said Robert Corum, Senior Technical Support Specialist, Network Operations Supervisor, State of Maine. "Best of all, it enabled us to produce comprehensive views of our ATM backbone within hours of our initial deployment. Using OptiView, we discovered that we were flooding traffic on all of our ATM virtual circuits due to a misconfiguration in a layer two switch. We unnecessarily had tripled our bandwidth utilization. Fixing that one problem allowed us to see substantial gains in our productivity and network performance. The OptiView WAN analyzer has eliminated a large blind spot in our network, giving us the opportunity to see what is happening inside our ATM backbone." Fluke Networks
