The Next Cut
Motorola has shaved a couple of millimeters off the already skinny phone, while adding a bigger external screen and a standard HTML browser. The device will launch first in Asia in July.
I don't see the RAZR 2 (catchy!) as a revolutionary phone compared to its older brother. Nearly every handset out there today is thinner, thanks to the original RAZR.
Still, its not impossible that the phone could help to improve Motorola's fortunes. Plenty of people -- myself included -- like the RAZR form factor for a basic phone.
Full disclosure: As a long-time RAZR user, I'd say the best new feature is the HTML browser. Yay, no more WAP crap! Don't know if that will sell it to the masses though.
