Alcatel agrees to provide wireless carrier Telus Mobility with a cross-Canada communications backbone infrastructure

PARIS -- Alcatel (Paris: CGEP.PA and NYSE: ALA) today announced that it has been awarded a major multi-year contract by TELUS Mobility to provide the national wireless carrier with a cross-Canada communications backbone infrastructure. The turnkey solution includes microwave products, network design and installation services that will enable TELUS Mobility to dramatically reduce its operational expenses, increase backbone capacity, and rapidly provision voice and data services to meet subscriber growth.

This multi-year contract reinforces Alcatel's status as a pioneer in the development of commercial microwave technologies.
