GAITHERSBURG, Md. -- BroadSoft Inc., the leading provider of hosted communications platforms, today announced that TelstraClear, one of the largest full-service telecommunications companies in New Zealand, will use BroadSoft's BroadWorks(R) platform and Cisco infrastructure to provide converged voice and data services to the New Zealand market.

TelstraClear will soon offer the only converged Trans-Tasman carrier-class voice and data service. For example, customers will be able to use simplified private dialing plans whether in Auckland or Sydney. They will also gain access to a range of productivity-enhancing applications that cannot be matched by the current incumbent provider. TelstraClear will begin deploying the BroadSoft and Cisco solution this calendar year. This joint solution will be delivered through a partnership with Dimension Data Australia and Datacraft Asia, a member of the worldwide Dimension Data Group.

"TelstraClear conducted an extensive lab evaluation to determine the platform most effective and reliable in meeting the requirements of the New Zealand market," said TelstraClear Group Product Manager Voice Solutions Rod Grieve. "The BroadSoft and Cisco solution was superior to alternative offerings in terms of breadth of applications, as well as speed and cost of deployment."

"BroadSoft has a demonstrated track record of success with large carriers in the Asia-Pacific region and we expect BroadWorks will have a powerful efficiency and cost-savings impact in the New Zealand market," said Michael Tessler, president and CEO of BroadSoft. "The BroadSoft and Cisco relationship has created a formidable offering, particularly in the areas of back-office integration and product feature availability."

With the addition of TelstraClear, BroadSoft and Cisco now have over 20 joint customers worldwide. The two companies have collaborated to provide sales and marketing support, including pricing, packaging and go-to-market strategy recommendations to their shared carrier customers. This joint solution consists of BroadSoft providing the platform for IP Centrex applications and Cisco delivering the voice and data infrastructure including IP phones, routers and media gateways.

"The BroadSoft and Cisco solution provides TelstraClear with a competitive IP Centrex offering that will provide a point of differentiation to both TelstraClear and its customers," said David Barker, Cisco Country manager, New Zealand. "We're pleased that carriers in the region are deploying this joint solution to effectively meet their end users' requirements for unsurpassed call features," said Barker.

BroadWorks provides a comprehensive range of applications including IP Centrex, Hosted PBX, and Voice VPN. BroadWorks is uniquely capable of providing these applications with the reliability, redundancy, scalability, and regulatory capabilities required to deliver carrier-class service. BroadWorks enables service providers to increase top-line revenues by offering enhanced services to enterprise customers. BroadWorks also reduces operational expenditures by empowering enterprises to manage their own moves, adds and changes via the patented CommPilot(TM) Web portal. The open, standards-based environment of BroadWorks provides maximum flexibility for service providers to customize their offering.
