MONTREAL -- Simpler Networks Corp., a technology leader driving the automation of copper distribution frames for local service providers, today announced the appointment of Harry J. Carr as Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Mr. Carr will also serve as a member of the Board of Directors and will be establishing a U.S. headquarters. A proven leader in the telecommunications and data industry, he will succeed the company’s co-founder Mr. Mike Perrault, who remains President and becomes Chief Operating Officer (COO).

Prior to joining Simpler Networks, Mr. Carr served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Tellium Inc., which merged with Zhone Technologies in November 2003. At Tellium, a 100-person start-up with no revenue and an unfinished product at the time of his appointment, Mr. Carr led a successful IPO and the merger with Zhone Technologies.

“Simpler Networks is at a critical juncture, as we set our sights on the next level of development. There is no doubt that the company is facing exciting opportunities and, together with the management team and employees, we hope to further build the company’s infrastructure for long-term growth and success,” said Mr. Carr. “I am thrilled to lead Simpler Networks towards its goal of becoming the world technology leader driving the automation of copper distribution frames.”

Prior to his position at Tellium, Mr. Carr was with Lucent Technologies, as a result of its acquisition of Yurie Systems Inc. At Lucent, he was Chief Operating Officer, then President of the Broadband Carrier Networks division, where he headed the company’s data networking business. As President and Chief Operating Officer of Yurie Systems, he led the company to market leadership in ATM access, established key strategic relationships and directed the discussions leading to Lucent’s acquisition of Yurie.

Mr. Carr has also held various executive positions at AT&T, including Market Development Vice President and Defense Markets Vice-President. Mr. Carr holds a degree in finance from Fairfield University and a law degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law.

“The addition of Harry to the management team is exciting as we enter a key phase in terms of our growth. Given our customer requirements and being the first MDF automation provider to successfully use MEMS technology, time-to-market is a critical factor for us. Harry will help the company meet these challenges, while providing valuable expertise to help us meet the unique requirements of our business,” said Mike Perrault.

“Along with the other members of the Board of Directors, I am very enthusiastic about Harry’s track record of building revenue in both start-up environments and larger companies. His experience makes him well qualified to drive Simpler Networks’ emergence as a dominant player in the telecommunications industry,” added Mr. Bob Annunziata, Chairman of the Board of Directors.
