AURORA, Ill. -- Westell Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: WSTL), an international systems developer and manufacturer of high-speed broadband/DSL and VoIP technology access products, announced today that Elltepe Broadband Technology AB, a leading technology supplier to broadband, telecom and TV industry operators in Sweden and Norway, has selected Westell’s LiteLineä DSL router for its ADSL 2 customers in the Scandinavia regions.

Elltepe’s decision to purchase the LiteLine 6100 DSL router reflects the increasing demand for next generation DSL technology in the Scandinavian countries and throughout Europe. Elltepe provides equipment to deliver xDSL, video-on-demand, wireless broadband, digital-TV and IP-TV to service providers, systems integrators and network installation companies. Elltepe is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden and is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Amplex Group.

To serve the new state-financed, city-based ADSL networks that will deploy high bandwidth video/TV streaming services, Elltepe selected Westell’s LiteLine due to the product’s ability to provide up to 12Mbps of bandwidth.

"We are very excited about Westell’s LiteLine because it is capable of supporting the new high speed ADSL2 standard but also can be upgraded to the even faster ADSL2+ standard when it becomes available later," said Conny Franzen, VP Sales of Elltepe. "With a commitment towards achieving full interoperability with a range of ADSL2/2+ DSLAMs, LiteLine will immediately enable our service provider customers to successfully deploy high bandwidth applications and benefit from the increased revenue potential," he said.

"Westell’s portfolio of DSL router and gateway products are gaining more and more acceptance throughout Europe and Scandinavia, " said Gordon E. Reichard, Jr., Vice President of Marketing, Westell Technologies. "End user demands for bandwidth hungry applications such as video will only continue. They require products which are versatile enough to deliver the necessary speeds now while still allowing for migration to the next level standards and beyond," Reichard said.
