Sprint provides innovative Layer 2 services to independent oil and gas company Burlington Resources for domestic and international use

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- Sprint (NYSE: FON - News, PCS - News) today announced that Burlington Resources Inc. (NYSE: BR - News; Toronto: B - News), one of the world's largest independent oil and gas companies, has selected SprintLink Frame Relay(TM) service for domestic and international implementation. Last week, Sprint introduced three products based on L2TPv3 technology, SprintLink Frame Relay(TM), SprintLink Packet Private Line(TM) and SprintLink Virtual LAN Services(TM).Sprint is the first global provider to offer products based on Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol Version 3 (L2TPv3) -- an emerging industry standard, which is a feature of Cisco IOS® Software."L2TPv3 was pioneered by Cisco working collaboratively with Sprint, offering enterprise customers the opportunity to maximize existing investments in their legacy frame relay and ATM infrastructures, while tapping the power, flexibility and security of Sprint's global IP network," said John Dupree, area vice president - Sales, Southwest Region, Sprint."SprintLink Frame Relay provides a seamless migration path to an end-to- end IP VPN.
