Spirent Enhances Test Platform

HONOLULU — Spirent Communications, the world leader in performance analysis solutions, today announced support for the OIF (Optical Internetworking Forum) Optical UNI (User-to-Network Interface) and the IETF’s GMPLS (Generalized Multiprotocol Label Switching) standard on its Adtech AX/4000 platform. As the evolution of the optical transmission network continues, routing decisions are moving down the protocol stack to the optical transport layer. Existing routing and switching protocols are being adapted to extend dynamic path allocation from virtual paths at the network layer to physical paths or “lightpaths” at the optical layer.

“The addition of the OIF and GMPLS capability reinforces our leadership in multi-protocol testing,” said Alan Sguigna, vice president of marketing for Spirent Communications, Adtech Division. “Now, on a single platform, manufacturers and service providers can validate “lightpath” reservation, as well as Quality of Service (QoS) for their ATM, IP, Frame Relay, Ethernet, and SONET services.”
