Slideshow: Gadget Geek-Out
The Canadian wireless mavens were showing off three of the new 3G Bolds running on AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T)'s high-speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) network. A company spokeswoman said that the carrier is still "testing" the handset at the moment, RIM's CEO confirmed an expected October launch for device at CTIA last week. (See CTIA: RIM Confirms October for the Bold.)
Motorola Inc. (NYSE: MOT) had a full line of handsets at the show, including the Motozine multimedia device. Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. (Korea: SEC) also had several recent releases, including the ruggedized "Rugby" phone. Meanwhile, Virgin Mobile USA Inc. (NYSE: VM) was showing off the "Shuttle" its first 3G handset, which also includes features from its recent acquisition of Helio. (See Helio, Goodbye.)
As you'll see in the slideshow, however, the show is by no means all handsets. There's a dizzying -- and frankly weird -- variety of gizmos there. From wireless exercise bikes and wood-finish laptops to automatic kitty litter boxes.
