FREMONT, Calif. -- SiPackets Inc., an Alliance Semiconductor Company and a leading developer of integrated circuit (IC) solutions for high-performance and bandwidth-intensive networking, storage and server applications today announced that it has been elected to the HyperTransport (HT) Consortium as a Promoter Member, the highest level of membership. In this position, SiPackets plays a key role in driving the HyperTransportTM (HT) Input/Output (I/O) link specification to meet the requirements of next generation systems. SiPackets' Promoter membership, in addition to the other promoting members, ensures the company's representation within the HyperTransport Technology Consortium's Executive Committee and the Board of Directors. The other Promoting members are AMD, Broadcom, Cisco Systems, NVIDIA, PMC-Sierra, SGI, Sun Microsystems and Transmeta. SiPackets offers a family of HT-based devices that included HT-to-PCI bridges and switches that expand the possibilities for system architects and designers by providing design options based on HT, which were never before possible. As part of the HyperTransport Consortium, SiPackets will drive the adoption and development of HyperTransport I/O high-speed interconnect technology. "We are pleased by the vote of confidence the HyperTransport Consortium has given us," said Bhanu Nanduri, President and CEO of SiPackets. "This election culminates our efforts within the various Working Groups of the Consortium. We are continuing our work with the other members of the Consortium to further enhance the HyperTransport specifications to meet the bandwidth and performance needs of next generation embedded and computing applications. We are committed to the HyperTransport industry standard and we are aggressively driving HT technology into market with our family of HT-based bridges and switches."
